The Inaugural Bermuda - Canada Ryder Cup for Charity Competition has received unprecedented support from local entities.

A dozen businesses and organizations on the island have rallied around the event which is in aid of the Coalition for the Protection of Children (CPC), a Bermuda organization that works with families to grow and develop a nurturing environment for all young people.

The four-day, Pro-Am Golf Tournament will take place from November 12th to 15th at three of Bermuda’s most spectacular golf courses, Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort, Port Royal Golf Course, and Tucker’s Point Club.

Event Director Tim Macklaier, a member of the Lambton Golf and Country Club in Toronto, Canada, commented, “The financial support in Bermuda has been very generous. Local businesses are pledging money and resources to make this international event a success for CPC and for the golfers from both countries.”

As an example, Astwood Dickinson, Bermuda’s Premier Jewellery store, located on Front Street in Hamilton, is donating five per cent of gross sales from November 11th to CPC, as well as sponsoring a private cocktail party on November 13th for the tournament participants. According to Managing Director Somers Cooper, “The tournament is a wonderful opportunity for Astwood Dickinson to give back to the community while participating in a prestigious, international event.”

Schroders (Bermuda) Limited is also a participating sponsor. Client Director and Head of Business Development Robin Peters commented, “We believe in supporting Bermuda in many ways and when we came upon this opportunity, it fit perfectly with our corporate culture and charitable objectives.”

The cab drivers of Bermuda have also pledged a portion of their tournament-based earnings to CPC. Spokesperson Randall (Bubba) Woolridge explained, “CPC is a great cause and this tournament is bringing a large contingent from Canada which is great for tourism and a large part of our business is tourism.”

The complete list of local, tournament sponsors includes: Astwood Dickinson, Azura Boutique Hotel & Residences, Benedek Lewin, The Bermuda Cab Drivers, Bermuda Tourism Authority, Caroline Bay Development, Coral Beach & Tennis Club, The Eden Club, Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort & Spa, Port Royal Golf Course, Schroders (Bermuda) Limited, and Tuckers Point Club.
