After two weeks of high-caliber competition, the 140th National Horse Show concluded, with the ASPCA Maclay National Championship, presented by Chansonette Farm.
Cody Rego finished 4th
This prestigious Equitation Final brought together 228 junior athletes from the United States and several countries including Bermuda at the Alltech Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, competing for the coveted championship.
Following two Jumping Rounds and a Flat Phase, Carlee McCutcheon emerged as the 90th winner of the ASPCA Maclay National Championship.
Cody Rego finished and astonishing 4th, Rego’s horse found the jumps easy and it let him find a good rhythm and ride every stride in a relaxed manner. There’s not much to criticize in a round like that.
Nicholas Lopes had a smooth trip down the first line. He rides forward into the outside line at the doubles and was good through there. He was a little deep to Fence 6, but the next line was well ridden.
Julia Slade moved up to a nice distance at the first. She looked like she found a good spot to 2, but her horse was a little slow with his knees. They have a swap to 8. Her final line was well executed.
