Harness Racing Halted Until March 2021 at the Earliest

One of the three Equestrian organizations that utilize the National Equestrian Center has announced an update on their season.
Following an online Special General Meeting held by the Driving Horse & Pony Club (DHPC) of Bermuda’s Executive Committee who run Harness Pony Racing have come up with a plan to resume their season.
Pending approval from the Bermuda Health Department the membership has decided to restart the season in 2021.
Colin Mello the President of DHPC said, “Two proposals were put forward to membership.
1. Call the season over and try again next season in hopefully better circumstances starting next October.
2. Hope things improve to allow us to return to racing and finish this season March-May and then restart the next season again in October.
The majority membership vote was for #2 so we hope to be able to be back racing 14th March.”
The 2020/2021 Bermuda Harness Pony Racing Season originally got underway at the National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street, back on October 24th, 2020.
