Collins Gets Third Olympic Horse

IslandStats.com
Rob van Puijenbroek has presented his Grand Prix horse Chuppy Checker CL to the Barcelona based Annabelle Collins as her 2021 Tokyo Olympic hopeful.

Collins speaking exclusively to www.islandstats.com from Spain said, “It’s exciting as I have now 3 potential horses for Tokyo, which is a comfortable position for me to be in.”

Chuppy Checker CL is a 13-year old Dutch warmblood gelding by Osmium out of Sympathie (by Balzflug). He is bred by Cor van der Linden of Lincom Stables

Van Puijenbroek bought an ownership share in the dark bay gelding in 2012 and shared him with Lincom Stables and Willem Jan Schotte. Later on, Schotte was bought out.

The gelding made his international show debut as a 5-year old under Dutch Willem-Jan Schotte who rode and collaborated with Van Puijenbroek at the time. The pair competed in four young horse classes at the 2012 CDI Vidauban in the south of France.

Chuppy disappeared from the international scene for six years, to return to the arena under Van Puijenbroek's husband Tommie Visser.

In January 2018 Visser made his national Grand Prix debut on the dark bay gelding at the CDN Berlicum and scored 68.80%. The international return to the arena of the talented gelding was in February 2018 at the CDI Le Mans. That year the pair also rode in Joosland, Aachen, Leudelange and Waregem.

In 2019 Visser and Chuppy Checker CL competed in Doha, Windsor, Compiegne, and Zakrzow with increasing scores. At their last CDI together, the 2020 CDI Lier at the end of February, they achieved 71.652% in the Grand Prix and 73.365% in the Kur.

Van Puijenbroek has now partnered with Annabelle Collins for a new collaboration which involved sending Chuppy Checker CL to Barcelona as Collins’ 2021 Tokyo Olympic hopeful, and in return getting two sales horses for training, including Gericault (by Bretton Woods x Havidoff).

"She rides for Bermuda and gets to go to the Olympic Games in Tokyo," Rob told Eurodressage. "There was a super click between Collins and Chuppy and above all they are friends of ours, so it felt right. We have a small and big tour horse here now which Tommie will ride to be sold. So we are collaborating. It's super fun."
