Mikale Williams added to his own Mercersburg School Record in the Triple Jump as the Mercersburg Boys' Indoor Track & Field team took first place in the inaugural Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) Invitational.
Mercersburg hosted the event in the Hale Field House.
Only four teams, including Landon School of Bethesda, Md., which is not a member of PAISAA, participated in this event. PAISAA conducts invitational meets in cross country in the fall, and outdoor track in the spring, so it is hoped that this meet will grow into a much larger affair in future years.
For the kickoff, several Mercersburg athletes delivered notable performances, led by Williams, who broke his own school record in the Triple Jump by a foot leaping 44' 0.25" or 13.41m and also won the Long Jump with a season-best 21' 4" or 6.50m.
His Triple Jump makes him a Provisional Qualifier for the Pennsylvania Track & Field Coaches Association Indoor State Track & Field Championship, which will be held at Penn State University on February 25th.
With his impressive performances, Williams was voted the Most Outstanding Male Performer at the Meet.
