Sacramento State buried 14 3-pointers, and first-year head coach David Patrick won his first game with Sacramento State on the way to a 65-55 road win at UC San Diego at LionTree Arena.
The victory was the first in the David Patrick era, as he took over the head coaching reigns at Sacramento State on April 5. Sacramento State improved to 1-1 on their season-opening three-game road trip, which included a loss to seventh-ranked UCLA.
Sacramento State, which led for nearly 34 minutes of the game clock, held a five-point halftime lead and scored the first five points of the second half to go up, 34-24, at the 17:40 mark. UC San Diego got would get no closer than five points of that deficit the rest of the way as Sacramento State led by double figures in the final seven minutes.
