Warwick Academy defeated the Bermuda High School (BHS) 14 - 9 in a repeat of last year’s Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Middle School Girls Basketball Championships.
BHS held a one point lead late in the third quarter before Samara Darrell would score six unanswered points to give Warwick Academy a lead they would not relinquish.
Darrell was also busy on the defensive end late in the match pulling down vital defensive rebounds which limited opportunities for BHS to score.
Adriana Argent from Warwick led all players in scoring with 8 points. Her 8 points and control of the game at point guard earned her MVP honors. Christina Dekock led BHS with 5 points with game MVP and Captain Zorena Anderson scoring twice.
Previously unbeaten BHS earned a place in the Final after defeating Saltus in their Semi-Final while Warwick Academy defeated Whitney to earn their spot.
Mount Saint Agnes (MSA) led from start to finish in a one sided Middle School Boys Final 29 – 12 against Somersfield Academy.
Somersfield Academy entered the match minus their three most experienced and senior players and MSA took advantage on their way to a 29-12 victory.
Tiago Rodrigues was the high scorer for the game, the MSA center scored 7 points in leading them to victory. Drake Kucharik chipped in with 5 points on his way to being named MVP. Cody Rego and Jordan Smith each added four points. Somersfield was led by MVP Nick Kempe with 6 points, Brandon Medeiros added 4 with Eli Carpol scored twice.
