As www.islandstats.com previously reported the Bermuda Under 19 Men's National Team recently returned from their Ontario Tour with a 1-4 record.
Despite the negative result, Head Coach, Kent Tacklyn was able to find the positive aspects of the tour as he saw players make a solid transition to a team approach over the week. As a team, they learned how to play with each other, get more comfortable with each other and overall trust each other on the court.
Coach Tacklyn heaped praise on his Co-Captains, Mical Hardtman and Jorel Smith who kept their teammates focused throughout the tour, reinforcing the coaching staff's mantra of getting more playing time through playing defense.
Coach Tacklyn felt that the team has a lot of potential. So much, that he would like to keep the team together and enter them into our next Bermuda Basketball Association League which is scheduled to start in the New Year.
He believes this will only make the team bond more together and become a more cohesive unit. He is hoping to include a few players who were unable to make the trip. A few overseas teams from the U.S. have expressed interest in coming to Bermuda this summer and this would help to prepare them for the possibilities of additional competition next summer.
