The Bermuda National Athletics Association has announced that Sean Trott will be participating in the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships but running it virtually.
Trott had qualified for the event and was approved and ready to compete in the event in March before we were hit with the pandemic. The event was rescheduled to later in the year, October, but Trott made the decision to not travel to Gydnia, Poland during this time to compete.
The event will take place this weekend Saturday, October 17th. Due to the pandemic, World Athletics offered the participants to run the event virtually if they had travel restrictions or did not want to take the chance due to safety.
Trott chose to run it virtually, he will be running the BTC Half Marathon route starting outside of Hamilton Princess at 7:30 am and completing the race at Barrs Park. This course was chosen as it is already a certified and measured course.
Donna Raynor the President of the Bermuda National Athletics Association said, “Trott has invited a few other runners to participate and run with him. We are very excited about this opportunity for Trott and the results will be forwarded to World Athletics.
