Rose-Anna Hoey competed in the JFK Ultra Marathon which was a 50 Mile race.
The 57th Annual race began at 6:30am, but it was to be an unfortunate day for Hoey.
Hoey unluckily fell hard onto a sharp rock at mile 10 on the Appalachian Trail and cracked her ribs, Hoey would run another 17 miles on it in the hope to just finish it out.
Hoey said, “Breathing was beyond painful and a physician was called to check me out as my O2 stats weren't awesome and breathing was shallow. On his advice, I left the race.”
“Hoey concluded, “I was and am still devastated. I am so thankful for the wonderful support from my family and friends. Even with perfect preparation life is unpredictable.”
