Nicholas Narraway and Gabriella Arnold claimed the ultimate bragging rights against the clock, storming to victory at the Bermuda Bicycle Association’s National Time Trial Championships.
On a day where aerodynamic precision and sheer mental fortitude were pushed to the absolute limit, the island's elite cyclists locked horns in a tactical battle where victory was measured in mere seconds.
The Open Male division produced an absolute classic, with three of Bermuda’s heavyweights separating themselves from the rest of the field in a blistering exhibition of power.
Nicholas Narraway claimed the prestigious national jersey, stopping the clock at a spectacular 37 minutes and 10 seconds. Narraway’s pacing strategy proved flawless, allowing him to hold off a ferocious challenge from professional compatriot Kaden Hopkins.
Hopkins emptied the tank on the return leg but had to settle for the Silver medal, crossing the line just 40 seconds adrift in 37:50. Conor White ensured a star-studded podium, secure in third place with a highly competitive time of 38:07, while Stephen Ryan showed immense grit to complete the grueling course in 47:15.
In the Open Female division, Gabriella Arnold put on an absolute masterclass to assert her total dominance over the local circuit.
Arnold flew across the tarmac, registering a phenomenal time of 35 minutes and 28 seconds to comfortably secure the national title. Her nearest challenger, Panzy Olander, pushed hard through the crosswinds to take second place in 37:44, while rising talent Charlotte Millington completed the top three with a strong 38:35 performance.
The veteran divisions proved that age is just a number, delivering some of the most competitive times of the entire championship weekend.
In the Masters Female race, Marie Dore turned heads with a breathtaking ride, stopping the clock in a rapid 36 minutes and 15 seconds to take the gold. Regular podium finisher Ashley Couper secured second place in 38:43, with Caroline Black locking down the bronze medal position in 42:46.
The Masters Male crown belonged to Steven Smith, who managed his energy reserves perfectly over the undulating course to cross the line in 45:35. Mark Robinson took home a well-earned Silver medal in 48:07, while Ian Henderson rounded out the championship podium, stopping the clock at 51:33.
