A torrential downpour brought an abrupt halt to the American Association clash at Newman Outdoor Field, as the game between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks was suspended due to rain.
Bermudian shortstop Adam Hall and his Goldeyes teammates faced a daunting mountain to climb before the weather intervened, trailing the RedHawks 11-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
With the rain turning heavy, the ground crew deployed the tarp, and officials ultimately determined the field unplayable for the evening.
The Goldeyes' pitching staff had endured a punishing opening few innings, with the RedHawks' bats firing on all cylinders to build a commanding ten-run cushion.
Winnipeg were actively at the plate attempting to mount a fourth-inning response when play was officially halted.
The contest will now be completed prior to the regularly scheduled game between the two teams when the series shifts to Fargo on September 1st.
While the delay gives the Goldeyes a temporary reprieve from the onslaught, they will face the unenviable task of resuming the match with a massive deficit when play gets back underway later in the season.
