The road to Port Royal is set to begin in the Arizona desert this month, as officials confirmed a coveted spot in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship is up for grabs at the GOLFWEEK National Golf Invitational.
The fourth edition of the GOLFWEEK National Golf Invitational Championship has been confirmed as a primary qualifying path for Bermuda’s premier sporting event. The tournament, which gathers the elite of collegiate and amateur golf, will be staged from May 21st through 24th.
The venue for this high-stakes encounter is the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona—a course renowned for its links-style bunkering and unforgiving desert winds.
While the trophy is the immediate goal, the long-term reward for the men’s individual winner is significantly more lucrative. In a partnership designed to bridge the gap between emerging talent and the professional ranks, the champion will earn an official exemption to compete in the PGA’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
This means the winner will trade the Arizona heat for the stunning coastal vistas of the Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda. The main event is scheduled to take place from October 22nd through 25th, where the qualifier will test their mettle against a world-class field of PGA Tour professionals.
