The streets of Toronto were a hive of activity recently as a strong contingent of runners flying the Bermuda Flag took to the course to compete across 10K, Half Marathon, and full Marathon distances. In a day defined by endurance and personal milestones, the standout performance came from Oliver Brunnock, who delivered a world-class display in the half marathon. Brunnock crossed the line in a blistering one hour, 15 minutes, and six seconds to secure sixth place overall and claim the top spot in the male 18-24 age group.
The half marathon field saw several notable finishes, with Jasper Addey showing impressive form to clock one hour, 35 minutes, and 58 seconds, finishing 555th overall. Not far behind was Mathew Mederios, who navigated the course in one hour, 39 minutes, and 17 seconds to secure 847th place. Brandon Morris also produced a clinical run, finishing 155th overall in a time of one hour, 25 minutes, and 27 seconds, which earned him 44th place within the competitive male 30-34 age category.
In the women's half marathon standings, Demi Hollis led the way with a sharp time of one hour, 47 minutes, and 48 seconds, placing her 390th among the female finishers. McQuinn Burch also broke the two-hour barrier with a time of one hour, 43 minutes, and 27 seconds. Further down the field, Ricardo Maybury completed his journey in two hours, 10 minutes, and 14 seconds, while Kalen Mills finished in just under two hours at one hour, 59 minutes, and 51 seconds.
The full 26.2-mile marathon distance provided a gruelling test of character. Michelle Bergsma was the pick of the marathon finishers, clocking a superb three hours, 49 minutes, and zero seconds to place 29th in the female 35-39 age group. Daniel Woods followed with a solid sub-four-hour performance, crossing the line in three hours, 59 minutes, and 30 seconds. Sergio Edness showed great resilience to finish in four hours, 36 minutes, and 20 seconds, while Kevin Minors completed the distance in five hours, 32 minutes, and 57 seconds.
Among the later finishers in the half marathon, Taboka Mudzengi recorded a time of two hours, 20 minutes, and 13 seconds, and Shawn Talbot finished in two hours, 31 minutes, and 19 seconds. Fortunate Mashiri crossed the line in two hours, 32 minutes, and 20 seconds, with Alex Lymbery and Nacori Smith rounding out the efforts with times of two hours, 43 minutes, and eight seconds and two hours, 49 minutes, and 43 seconds respectively. In the 10K event, Melody Greenslade kept a steady pace to finish in one hour, eight minutes, and 52 seconds, placing 27th in her age group to complete a successful day for the travelling contingent.
