A dramatic Saturday of football in Bermuda saw title races in both the Premier and First Divisions tighten as the league leaders faced stiff opposition.
PREMIER DIVISION
Devonshire Colts 1 Paget Lions 0
At the Police Field, Devonshire Colts kept their championship hopes firmly on track with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over the Paget Lions.
The match was decided early when Jahzardae Samuels connected with a header at the back post in just the fifth minute to give the Colts the lead. They maintained that advantage through to the interval despite a spirited effort from a Paget side currently fighting for survival in the relegation zone.
The second half proved to be an end-to-end affair with both sides carving out opportunities, yet neither goalkeeper could be breached again.
The win moves Devonshire Colts to 28 points, drawing them level with the Dandy Town Hornets at the top of the table. While both clubs boast an identical +13 goal difference, the Hornets remain the official league leaders by virtue of having conceded fewer goals so far this season.
FIRST DIVISION
Southampton Rangers 1 Robin Hood 1
In First Division action at the Southampton Oval, league leaders Robin Hood required a late rescue act to secure a 1–1 draw against the Southampton Rangers. After a scoreless and tightly contested first half, it was the Rangers who eventually broke the deadlock in the 67th minute through a strike from Sijay Samuels.
The hosts appeared destined for all three points until the 87th minute, when Tokia Bean found the back of the net to earn Hood a share of the spoils.
The result pushes Robin Hood to 22 points at the summit of the standings, three points clear of the second-placed Somerset Trojans. However, the Trojans remain a significant threat in the promotion race, as they currently hold two games in hand over the leaders.
