Dandy Town Hornets showed no signs of a festive hangover as the league leaders cruised to a dominant 4-0 victory over Young Men's Social Club at White Hill Field.

Fresh from their New Year’s Day triumph in the Friendship Trophy, the Hornets continued their clinical form to move four points clear at the top of the Premier Division standings. With title rivals PHC Zebras and Devonshire Colts not in action until Sunday, the result piles the pressure on the chasing pack as the season enters a critical January window.

The league leaders asserted their authority early in the contest, though they found a resilient Social Club side difficult to break down during the opening exchanges. The deadlock was finally broken in the 21st minute through a moment of dead-ball brilliance. Jahkari Furbert, standing over a free-kick just outside the area, curled a precise effort beyond the reach of the goalkeeper to give the home side a deserved lead.

Despite the Hornets’ dominance in possession, Social Club—currently languishing in ninth place—fought hard to stay in the contest, trailing by only a single goal as the teams headed into the interval.

The slender lead was doubled just five minutes after the restart when Hayden Dill found space in the box to fire home, effectively deflating any hopes of a Social Club comeback. The visitors’ afternoon went from bad to worse in the 70th minute when an unfortunate own goal further extended the margin to 3-0.

With the result beyond doubt, coach Jarreau Hayward utilised his bench, and the depth of the Hornets' squad was on full display. Substitute Tomiko Goater, who has been a consistent threat throughout the campaign, rounded off the scoring in the 82nd minute with a composed finish to make it 4-0.

The victory ensures Dandy Town remain the team to beat as they look to add a league title to their recent cup success. While the Hornets celebrate a perfect start to 2026, the defeat leaves Young Men's Social Club firmly entrenched in a relegation battle, still searching for the consistency needed to climb away from the bottom two.
