Harborough Town has confirmed bad injury news for teenage attacker Jutorre Burgess, who is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a severe knee injury during the recent FA Trophy win over AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
The 19-year-old forward confirmed the devastating news himself via an Instagram post after receiving his scan results. Burgess revealed that he has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
A rupture of the ACL is one of the most severe injuries a footballer can sustain and typically requires a significant period of rehabilitation before returning to play.
Despite the devastating diagnosis, Burgess is already focused on his recovery and eventual return to the pitch.
"I am extremely distraught," Burgess wrote. "I know I will be out for a while, but I will do my all to come back stronger".
The injury is a major blow for Harborough Town, who lose a promising young attacker for the foreseeable future. The club will now support Burgess through his rehabilitation process.
