The Premier Division provided plenty of drama at the Devonshire Recreation Club double-header, with Dandy Town Hornets securing a vital narrow victory, while Devonshire Cougars staged a dramatic second-half comeback, capped by a stoppage-time winner.
Boulevard Blazers 0 Dandy Town Hornets 1
The opener saw fifth-placed Dandy Town Hornets edge tenth-placed Boulevard Blazers with a single goal.
The winning strike came almost immediately, with David Jones Jr. capitalizing on an opportunity just two minutes into the match. A long throw-in allowed the ball to bounce in the box, and Jones Jr. was quick to fire a left-footed shot into the back of the net, giving the Hornets a 1-0 lead that they maintained until the break.
Despite both teams pressing for a second goal in the second half, the score remained unchanged, allowing the Dandy Town Hornets to claim the vital three points.
Devonshire Cougars 3 Paget Lions 2
The afternoon's second match delivered late drama as sixth-placed Devonshire Cougars hosted seventh-placed Paget Lions.
The Lions took full control in the first half, Julian Carpenter gave them the lead in the 21st minute with a header from a floated free-kick. Just before halftime, Kushae Hypolite doubled the lead, beating the goalkeeper from an angle after latching onto a long ball, sending Paget Lions into the break with a commanding 2-0 advantage.
However, the Cougars orchestrated a stunning second-half turnaround. Chae Brangman began the comeback in the 55th minute, pulling a goal back with a header. The intensity peaked in the final moments of regulation time when Brangman secured the equalizer from the penalty spot in the 89th minute.
The drama wasn't over yet; deep into stoppage time, second-half substitute Christian Albouy sealed the incredible comeback, scoring from inside the box after a preceding shot had crashed back off the crossbar, giving Devonshire Cougars the dramatic 3-2 victory.
