The 2025 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Sevens tournament has kicked off in Arima, Trinidad, delivering a challenging opening day for the Bermuda men’s team, while the women’s squad secured an excellent victory over Barbados.

The competition began with the reigning Men's Tier 1 Champions, Canada, starting their title defence against Barbados.

The Bermuda men’s team faced a difficult opening slate of fixtures against two of the region's strongest teams.

In their opening match, Bermuda took on Mexico, ultimately going down 15-0.

Hoping to bounce back and secure their first points, the men then faced the formidable task of taking on Canada in their second match of the day. The champions proved too strong, running out 34-0 winners against the Bermudian side.

The Bermuda Women’s team started their tournament with a convincing win against Barbados.

The star of the show was Najée Pitt-Clarke, who ran in two tries in the first half to establish a 12-5 lead at the break.

The team carried that momentum into the second half as Apryl Jackson scored a try to extend the lead to 17-5. Pitt-Clarke then completed her hat-trick, scoring her third try of the game to seal the victory at 22-5.

In their second match of the day, the Bermuda Women faced a tough challenge against the host nation, Trinidad and Tobago. The hosts proved too strong, defeating the Bermudian side 29-0.
