Liana De Medeiros and her University of Toronto Varsity Blues Women's Cross Country teammates are travelling east to compete in the prestigious 2025 U SPORTS Cross Country Championships, hosted by l'Université de Sherbrooke this Saturday, November 8th.
The team is aiming for a strong showing on the national stage after a recent sixth-place finish at the OUA championships two weeks ago. This marks a chance for the Varsity Blues to significantly improve on their 12th-place team finish from last fall’s national event.
Leading the charge for the Varsity Blues women will be fifth-year standout Julia Agostinelli, who enters the championship with confidence following an individual silver-medal performance at the OUA championships.
Agostinelli will be supported by key pack leaders, including the 2025 OUA Student-Athlete Community Service Award winner Sarah White and second-year standout Kaitlyn Koyanagi, as they navigate the large field of competitors. De Medeiros, who has consistently been one of the Varsity Blues' top runners throughout the fall season, will be critical in securing a low team score to push Toronto up the national standings.
The national championship represents the pinnacle of Canadian university cross-country running, and the Varsity Blues will be counting on their depth and star power to secure a high-ranking team finish.
