Radcliffe FC Under 18s, featuring Bermudians Syhon Goater and Kiemi Chamberland, have written a new chapter in the club's history by defeating Altrincham in a tense penalty shootout to advance to the First Round of the FA Youth Cup.
The Third Qualifying Round match at the Neuven Stadium ended in a cagey scoreless 0-0 draw, forcing the tie to be settled by spot-kicks.
Both teams converted their opportunities in the shootout, which went to sudden death. Radcliffe eventually clinched the victory 5-4 on penalties, securing their passage to the prestigious tournament proper.
Midfielder Syhon Goater came off the bench for Radcliffe in the 67th minute, while Kiemi Chamberland was also substituted in the 78th minute.
The win extends the young team’s impressive run in the national youth competition.
