Logan Jiménez and his Hibs Development Squad teammates fell to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Spartans in the KDM Evolution Trophy league phase.
There were two changes to the Dev Squad side that took on Stirling Albion in the same competition last month.
Jacob MacIntyre and Joseph McGrath both made way for Kanayo Megwa and Lewis Gillie ahead of the Ainslie Park clash, with defensive midfielder Zach Bruce taking on the captain’s armband.
After a quiet period, Hibs would pull one back with 10 minutes remaining. Luke Davidson and Megwa would combine well down the right, with the latter being fouled on the by-line. Referee George Calder promptly pointed to the spot, allowing Cleland to finish low and central past Carswell.
The final 10 minutes petered out as Hibs failed to claw back yet another goal to bring about a more respectable scoreline in Pilton.
