Bermuda's Young Tennis Stars Conclude ITF/COTECC Challenge

The 2025 International Tennis Federation (ITF)/COTECC Sub Region 3 competition in the Dominican Republic has drawn to a close, with Bermuda's Under 12 Girls' and Boys' teams delivering strong performances and gaining invaluable international experience.

In the individual Boy's Singles event, Manuel Maldonado made a commendable run to the semi-finals before his journey was halted by the top seed. Maldonado went down in straight sets to Francisco Perez from Puerto Rico, 4-1, 4-2, ending his impressive singles campaign.

In the team competition, the Bermuda Girls' team, led by captain Steve Bean and featuring Chloe McBrearty, Lee Terciera, and Arianna Parra Delgado, finished as impressive runners-up. Their solid performance saw them accumulate a record of 3 wins and just 1 defeat throughout the tournament, showcasing their growing strength and consistency.

The Bermuda Boys' team, captained by Evan Heyliger and comprising Trystan Thompson, Oliver Anderson, and Manuel Maldonado, also put in a creditable effort. They finished in 3rd place in their team competition, recording 1 win and 2 defeats.

The tournament provided a crucial platform for these young Bermudian talents to compete against some of the best junior players in the region, gaining vital match experience and exposure to international competition. Their results underscore the promising future of tennis in Bermuda.
