After inclement weather cruelly halted the first "Fight Night" two weeks ago, the rescheduled "Run it Back" event at The Shed in Dockyard delivered on its promise of explosive action, with two Bermudian boxers seizing the spotlight.
The co-main event saw Adrian Roach make a stunning professional boxing debut, wasting no time in dispatching Canada’s Brent Coxworthy. Roach unleashed a torrent of powerful blows, targeting both the body and head.
A relentless series of body shots sent Coxworthy to one knee in the very first round, prompting his corner to step in and stop the fight, handing Roach an emphatic victory in his professional bow.
The energy in the arena then soared as Dash Simmons stepped into the ring to face Jamaica’s Ian Darby in the main event. The pair traded heavy blows in a captivating back-and-forth contest throughout the first four rounds, thrilling the passionate Bermudian crowd.
However, in the fifth round, Simmons delivered a devastating right hand to Darby's body, sending the Jamaican to one knee, clutching his left side in obvious distress. While Darby bravely managed to rise to his feet and attempt to continue, referee Tony Mouchette had no choice but to intervene. With Darby unable to defend himself from Simmons's ensuing onslaught to both the head and body, the bout was stopped, earning Simmons a decisive TKO victory in the fifth round.
The night proved to be a resounding success for Bermudian boxing, with both Roach and Simmons delivering memorable performances that left no doubt about their capabilities in the professional ranks.
