The Deloitte Open Tennis Tournament at the Pomander Gate Tennis Club continues to serve up exciting matches, with players battling for supremacy across various divisions.
In the Men’s Doubles 45 & Over category, the pairing of Earl and Erwin Leader demonstrated strong form, advancing to the final with a straight-sets victory. They defeated the duo of Frank Fischer and Chris Grasso 6-3, 6-4 in their semi-final clash.
In the Men’s Singles - 45 & Over division, number one seed Michael Toyer secured his spot in the semi-finals. He advanced after his opponent, Wilfred Gonsalves, retired from their quarter-final match. Toyer had already taken the first set 6-0, and was leading 3-0 in the second set when Gonsalves withdrew.
The Men’s A Singles saw a hard-fought semi-final battle, with Gavin Manders ultimately emerging victorious. Manders needed three sets to overcome Zachary James Mcguire, winning 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 in a thrilling encounter.
Meanwhile, in the Men's A Singles Consolation Quarter-Finals, Chase Mccrimmon also secured a hard-earned win. Mccrimmon battled through three sets to defeat Uzair Naeem 6-4, 5-7, 11-9, keeping his tournament hopes alive in the consolation bracket.
The tournament promises more exciting tennis as players vie for titles across the remaining categories at the Pomander Gate Tennis Club.
