The Flora Duffy South Field Stadium at the National Sports Center played host to another exciting Bermuda National Athletics Association (BNAA) Track Meet, with one athlete achieving Carifta qualifying standards and two others narrowly missing out.

The day's highlight came in the Under 17 Men's 3000 Meter Run, where Gianluca Bortoli delivered a superb performance. Bortoli clocked a winning time of 9:52.36, comfortably surpassing the Carifta Qualifying Standard time of 9:58.00. His impressive run secured his place at the upcoming Carifta Games, a significant achievement for the young athlete.

In the Under 17 Women's 400 Meter Dash, Kelise Wade came agonizingly close to qualifying. Wade clocked a time of 59.54 seconds, just outside the Carifta Qualifying Standard time of 58.14 seconds. Despite missing out on qualification, Wade's performance demonstrated her potential and her strong form.

Similarly, Lashee Jones produced a commendable run in the Under 17 Women's 100 Meter Dash. Jones clocked a time of 12.80 seconds, but this was outside the Carifta Qualifying Standard time of 12.35 seconds. Jones's performance, while not enough for qualification, was a testament to her speed and dedication.

The BNAA Track Meet provided a platform for Bermuda's young athletes to showcase their talent and strive for Carifta qualification. The performances of Bortoli, Wade, and Jones highlighted the high level of competition and the dedication of Bermuda's athletes.

Bortoli's qualification is a significant achievement, and he will now focus on preparing for the Carifta Games. Wade and Jones, despite missing out on qualification, will undoubtedly use this experience as motivation to continue improving. The BNAA will continue to hold meets to help the athletes in their development.
