Mark Morrison has begun his racing season with a solid performance at the Tooting Common Parkrun 5K, finishing 24th overall and securing third place in the Male 40-44 age group.
Clocking a time of 20:04, Morrison navigated the muddy conditions of the popular London parkrun, marking his return to competitive racing.
Despite the challenging terrain, Morrison expressed his enjoyment of the event, telling islandstats.com, "A nice little start to the season 5K it was very muddy but I thoroughly enjoyed getting back out to racing."
Acknowledging the impact of his long-distance training on his speed, Morrison added, "I definitely felt that the long-distance training has taken out some of my leg speed but it should be fine."
Looking ahead, Morrison hopes to improve his finishing position as he transitions to longer distances. "Hopefully when we get to the longer distances I can finish higher up the field," he stated.
Morrison's performance at Tooting Common provides a promising start to his season, with the runner aiming to build on this foundation in the coming months.
