The PCC Hockey Rink was the scene of another exciting Bermuda Ball Hockey double-header, with BDA Spirits and Positive Image Dental claiming victories in two action-packed matches that produced a combined 19 goals.
BDA Spirits 6 Frontier 3
In the opening game, BDA Spirits overcame a late surge from Frontier to secure a 6-3 win. BDA Spirits started strong, building a 3-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals from Robbie Bailey, Ben Wilshaw, and Andrew Bonner.
Bailey continued his scoring streak in the second period, netting twice to complete his hat-trick and extend BDA Spirits' lead to 5-0. Frontier finally found the back of the net through John Duda, but BDA Spirits still held a commanding advantage.
The third period saw Frontier attempt a comeback. Shawn McKee restored BDA Spirits' five-goal lead early on, but Shannon Gosse scored twice for Frontier to make the score 6-3. Despite their late efforts, Frontier couldn't close the gap any further, and BDA Spirits held on for the win.
Hamilton Princess 3 Positive Image Dental 7
The nightcap saw Positive Image Dental defeat Hamilton Princess 7-3 in another high-scoring encounter.
Positive Image Dental took a 1-0 lead in the first period through Matt McPhail, but Hamilton Princess quickly equalized with a goal from Anthony Kapsimalis. Positive Image Dental then regained control with goals from Andrew Leavy and Craig Rowat to take a 3-1 lead into the second period.
Hamilton Princess fought back in the second, with Riley Latour scoring twice to reduce the deficit to just one goal. However, Positive Image Dental dominated the third period, scoring four unanswered goals to secure the victory. Sam Viera led the charge with two goals, while McPhail added his second of the game, and Shane Matchett rounded off the scoring.
The double-header showcased the exciting and fast-paced nature of ball hockey, providing fans with an entertaining evening of sport and highlighting the competitive spirit of the Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League.
