Adkins (L) IslandStats.com Cameron Adkins and a select group of distance runners from the Christ School Men's Track and Field team kicked off their outdoor season in impressive fashion, setting a new school record in the rarely-contested 4x1600m Relay.
Competing at a meet hosted by Metrolina Christian Academy, the quartet of Adkins, Brooks Barbee, Noah Clancy, and Dallas Reeves clocked a time of 18:00.35, securing second place behind Marvin Ridge, who finished in 17:48.84.
This impressive performance saw the Christ School team break their previous school record in an event that is not commonly run in North Carolina. The more traditional relays of 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m, and 4x800m are more prevalent in the state.
The individual splits for the Christ School team were: Adkins: 4:25.10 Barbee: 4:40.00 Clancy: 4:30.20 Reeves: 4:24.80
Adkins' strong opening leg set the tone for the record-breaking performance, showcasing the team's potential in the longer distance events. This early success bodes well for the Christ School Men's Track and Field team as they embark on their outdoor season.
