Champions Crowned at BSSF Cross-Country Championships

Jake Smith and Jaeda Grant produced dominant performances to claim victory in the Over-16 races at the 2025 Bermuda School Sports Federation (BSSF) Senior School Cross-Country Championships, held at the Arboretum.
Smith, fresh off his Front Street Mile triumph, showcased his impressive form once again. The Warwick Academy senior crossed the finish line a commanding 44 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor, teammate Jackson Langley, with a winning time of 14:45. Langley clocked 15:29 for second place, while The Berkeley Institute's Khari Sharrieff finished third in 17:20. Smith's victory spearheaded Warwick Academy to the team title with a low score of 19 points. Saltus Grammar School finished second with 55 points, followed by The Berkeley Institute in third with 86 points.
In the over-16 Girls' race, Grant of Saltus Grammar School led from the front to secure first place, finishing in 14:20. Somersfield Academy's Carina Bortoli finished second in 14:40, with Warwick Academy's Jorgia White taking third place in 14:55.
Saltus also claimed the team honors in this Division with 33 points. Warwick Academy finished second with 52 points, and The Berkeley Institute secured third place with 59 points.
Saltus Grammar School enjoyed further success in the Under-16 Boys' race, sweeping the podium. Dylan Eiselt led the trio with an impressive time of 11:05. Teammates Sanchez Smith and Tobiah Goodchild finished second and third respectively, clocking 11:24 and 11:30. Their combined efforts earned Saltus the team title with 32 points. Warwick Academy came in second with 38 points, while The Berkeley Institute finished third with 62 points.
Warwick Academy's Amaris Munya took the top spot in the Under-16 girls' race, finishing in 14:22. Berkeley's Azari Jones was a close second in 14:26, and Somersfield Academy's Layla Crews finished third in 14:36. Bermuda High School's strong showing, with five runners in the top ten, secured them the team title with 34 points. Berkeley claimed second place with 44 points, and Warwick Academy finished third with 71 points.
