Adam Prunty and Teresa Ruiz emerged victorious at the Butterfield & Vallis 5K Road Race, held under bright and sunny skies on Sunday morning.
Prunty led the field home in a time of 16:21, showcasing his impressive speed and endurance. Seamus Fearon (17:45) and Philip Woollins (18:05) followed in second and third place respectively.
Ruiz claimed the Women's title with a time of 19:52, finishing 15th overall. Stepanka Sprincova (20:28) and Rose-Anna Hoey (20:39) secured the second and third spots on the women's podium.
The event also featured races for younger age groups, with some exciting performances on display.
In the Senior School category, Jake Smith took the Boys' title in 16:59, while Jaeda Grant won the Girls' race in 23:03.
Sami Luber (10:15) and Riana Robinson (10:35) were crowned champions in the Middle School male and female categories respectively.
Khaleef Daley (10:06) and Yara Muhammad (11:38) emerged as winners in the Upper Primary school races.
In the Lower Primary 1K event, Carter Anderson (4:23) and Neve Adolph (4:34) claimed the top honours.
The Butterfield & Vallis 5K provided a fantastic opportunity for runners of all ages and abilities to participate and enjoy the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle. Prunty and Ruiz's victories, along with the impressive performances from the younger runners, highlight the strong running community in Bermuda.
