Bermudian bowler LeVinc Samuels bowed out of the International Bowling Federation World Cup in Hong Kong after a hard-fought battle in the Round of 16.
Samuels, who had impressed in the group stages to secure a 10th seed ranking, faced a formidable opponent in 4th seed Jaris Goh from Singapore.
Despite a valiant effort, Samuels fell to a 2-0 defeat in the best-of-three match. Goh started strongly, claiming the first game 235-206. The second game proved to be a nail-biter, with Goh edging out Samuels 193-192 in a tense finish.
Though his World Cup journey has ended, Samuels can take pride in his overall performance. He demonstrated his skill and composure throughout the tournament, notably with a convincing 2-0 victory over Macau's Lam Iek Long in the previous round. He won the first game 179-130 and sealed the match with a 204-159 win in the second.
Samuels' performance in Hong Kong highlights his talent on the international stage. While he may be disappointed with the Round of 16 result, this experience will undoubtedly serve him well in future competitions.
