Maddy Schindel represented CI Trinity College School Port Hope at the 2024 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Cross Country Championships, facing challenging conditions in one of North America's largest Cross Country events.
The OFSAA Cross Country Championships, renowned as the second-largest race of its kind in North America, brought together top high school runners from across Ontario. Schindel competed in the Novice Girls' 4km race, where she faced not only fierce competition but also adverse weather conditions, including hail and freezing rain.
Despite the challenging elements, Schindel persevered, finishing as the first runner from CI Trinity College School to cross the finish line. She recorded a time of 17:25.15, securing 90th place overall in a highly competitive field.
The CI Trinity College School Port Hope Girls' Novice team finished 26th overall with a combined time of 1:18:08.
Schindel's determination and resilience in the face of challenging conditions exemplify the spirit of cross country running and represent a commendable performance at this prestigious event.
