Liana De Medeiros and the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Women's Cross Country team faced tough competition at the 2024 OUA Cross Country Championships in Callander, Ontario. The challenging course and a deep field of talented runners pushed the University of Toronto to their limits.
Despite the demanding conditions, the Toronto Women secured a respectable sixth-place finish in the 15-team field. Leading the charge for the University of Toronto was Cross Country veteran Julia Agostinelli, who delivered a gutsy performance to finish eighth overall with a time of 29:07.7. Sarah Luedke also cracked the top 20, crossing the line in 17th place with a time of 29:51.3.
De Medeiros battled through the challenging course and a competitive field, finishing as the third University of Toronto runner in 26th place with a time of 30:20.0. Sophie Levasseur and Samantha MacDonald demonstrated their teamwork and determination, finishing neck-and-neck in 37th and 38th place, respectively.
Avery Murrell and Sarah White rounded out the team's scoring, finishing 51st and 58th in the 100-person race. Despite facing formidable opponents and a demanding course, each runner demonstrated grit and determination, contributing to the team's overall success.
The OUA Championships provided a valuable test for the University of Toronto, highlighting both their strengths and areas for improvement as they continue to develop and strive for excellence in the highly competitive world of University Cross Country.
