As the sun peeked over the horizon, casting a golden hue on the dew-kissed grass, Shayla Cann and her determined Elon University Women’s Cross Country teammates gathered at the ECU Pirate Cross Country Invitational. The course at Overton’s at Lake Kristi awaited a canvas for their early-morning pursuit of excellence.
The Elon women, left their footprints on the 6K trail. Their collective effort yielded 347 points—a testament to grit, strategy, and the relentless rhythm of their strides. Fourteenth overall—their position on the leaderboard—spoke of both challenge and promise.
In this symphony of endurance, Cami Glebocki emerged as a soloist. The sophomore, fueled by determination, carved through the distance. Her time of 22:46.8 earned her a new personal best. The finish line welcomed her as the 39th overall.
And then there Shayla Cann, her steps, though not at the forefront, held their own significance. Crossing the line in 148th place, she recorded a time of 24:41.8 each stride spoke of resilience, of the quiet battles fought.
