IslandStats.com
2023/24 saw Steven Bremar put in arguably the best performance of his career, completing a sensational quadruple, winning the Tony DeSilva Memorial Cup, the Bermuda Open Singles, the Bermuda Open Doubles with partner, Zane DeSilva & then finally, winning the scratch tournament at the ISL (International Snooker League) tournament in Toronto, Canada.

Bremar capped of the domestic season by winning an epic battle in the Bermuda Open Doubles with partner DeSilva against fellow finalists, Gary Bascome and Richard Burton.

It was Bascome and Burton who took an early lead, however, winning the 1st game on the black, 52-43.

Bremar and DeSilva then leveled at 1-1, taking the 2nd game 44-21.

Bremar and DeSilva, building on the success of the 2nd game, took a 2-1 lead when they overcame Bascome and Burton 67-29 in the 3rd game.

Bascombe and Burton stormed back in the 4th game however, taking it 63-42 to level the match at 2-2 and force a tiebreaker.

After a monumental battle in the 5th game, which ended in a tied game score of 47 each, it was Desilva who sealed the win for Bremar and DeSilva when he potted the final, re-spotted Black Ball to take the title, 54-47.

At the end-of-season award ceremony, Bremar was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the President of the Bermuda Snooker Association, Paul Fedden, in recognition of a prolific career, spanning several decades.

It did not end there for Bremar however, as he returned from the International Snooker League tournament in Toronto, Canada, having secured a memorable victory against New York Athletic Club's Ian O'Mahony in the prestigious scratch tournament, 3 Games to 1.

Speaking on the team's return, President, Fedden commended Bremar for his historic quadruple win, saying, “Bremar had written his place in Bermudian sporting history as one of the most decorated players the island has ever seen'. His team also won the league this season! This incredible achievement will likely never be equaled.”

All eyes will now be on Bermuda next May, when the International Snooker League returns to the island, hosted by the Bermuda Snooker Association, with players from across the globe flying in to compete at the highest level in the most beautiful setting in the world. Definitely one to look forward to.
