Warwick Workmen’s Club Two defeated Spanish Point Boat Club Two 3 – 1 to claim the Mike Zimmerman Team Challenge title.
Captain Steven Bremar got Warwick off to a flying start when he defeated Point's Billy Wotton sinking the pink ball to take the 1st game, 58 – 39.
John Orr equalized for Spanish Point when he took the 1st of 2 games against Warwick's Zane DeSilva, 41 – 23.
DeSilva stormed back in the 2nd of the 2 games, however, winning 50-36.
With the match in the balance, the 4th game saw Spanish Point's Tyler Moniz take on Warwick's Scott Barnes, Barnes prevailed on the black ball to clinch the title for Warwick, 57-48. Zimmerman was part of the Warwick Workmen’s Club Two team for many years so it was fitting that they should win the tournament introduced in his honor.
The trophy was presented by Mike's wife Sharon and daughter, Melissa, Mike's eldest daughter, Tiffany, was sadly unable to make it to the final, but sent her warmest regards and gratitude.
This was the inaugural outing of the Mike Zimmerman Team Challenge, an annual tournament which has been introduced following the tragic death of Zimmerman in October 2021 from Covid 19.
