Taylor Carrick and his Western University Men’s Squash teammates began competing in the College Squash Association National Collegiate Men’s Team Championships.
The championships are being hosted by Trinity at the Kellner Squash Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
In their opening match, they would edge Rochester University 5 – 4.
Carrick playing in the number 5 spot would need all five games to edge his opponent Jacob Koeppel 3 – 2 in a 57-minute battle.
Carrick won the first game 11-5, he would take a 2 – 0 lead when he won the second game 11-7.
Koeppel would pull within one when he won the third game 13 – 11, Koeppel then leveled the match at 2 – 2 winning the fourth game 11-9.
But Carrick would hold his nerve and win the fifth and final game 11 – 8 to claim the victory.
