Two women in a river of men one including Bermuda’s Kim McCallan Driving offshore race boats in St. Clair.
There were 62 offshore race boats in St. Clair for the 25th running of the St. Clair River Classic from July 26 to 28. Each boat was piloted by a driver and a throttleman, meaning there were 124 people in the cockpits of the five dozen-plus race boats.
McCallan, a native of Bermuda, drove the number 13 boat North Myrtle Beach RV Resort in the ProStock Vee class; boat owner Chris Uzzolina, known as Uzzi on the circuit, slid over to the throttleman’s seat for the race.
The other was Lindsey Denooyer, 20, drove the S-88 boat Killer Bee in the Super Stock class, with dad Jim at the throttles.
