The 2019 Senior Caribbean CASA Championships got underway in Guyana, with Pool Play.
Bermuda’s Women’s team took to the court to compete against Trinidad & Tobago in their opening match, Bermuda would go down 4 – 0.
Rachel Barnes went down in her game 3 – 1 to Charlotte Knaggs 10-12, 11-9, 11-7, 11-5. Susie Howells went down 11-9, 11-5, 11-3 to Marie-Claire Barcant.
In the third game, Jayne Craig was edged 3 – 2 by Jaime-Leigh Edghill 11-5, 9-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5 and then Melody Amy Gillezeau was awarded a win by default.
The Bermuda team would bounce back and defeat the British Virgin Islands 3 – 0.
Rachel Barnes defeated Zoe Sorrentino in straight games 11-6, 11-4, 11-3, Susie Howells then defeated her opponent Natalie Fay 3-0, when she recorded a score of 11-3, 11-7, 11-1.
The final match that earned Bermuda the win was Jayne Craig defeating Nicole Toppin in straight games 11-3, 11-1, 11-2.
