Taylor Carrick continues to make his mark in his new Under 19 Age Group Category - finishing 12th in the German Junior Open in Hamburg. Representing Bermuda, he met players from Switzerland, Spain, Israel, the Netherlands and Belgium.
Carrick won his First Round match against Alvaro Gaitan Martin in a comfortable 3 games 11-1, 11-6, 11-4.
Carrick then had a bit of a battle against Israeli, Almog Avizov, eventually winning 13-11, 21-19, 11-6. He then met Yannick Wilhelm from Switzerland. Yannick is currently #2 in Europe while Carrick is ranked #39 following his move up to the new Age Group. Carrick played well and took the Swiss player to 4 games before going down 12-10, 11-6, 8-11, 11-7. Yannick went on to win the Boy’s Under 19 Division.
Carrick seeded 9/16 dropped down to meet fellow 9/16 seed Tom Schreurs of the Netherlands - winning 11-8, 11-8, 11-3. Carrick then met Campbell Wells of Switzerland - a 5/8 seed who also got knocked down just before the Quarter-Finals, with Wells defeating Carrick 11-8, 11-5, 11-8.
On the final day, Carrick struggled with shin splints but still put in a respectable finish going down 11-9, 11-6, 11-9 to finish the Super Series tournament in 12th place.
