Carrick Wins US Junior Plate Final

Taylor Carrick represented Bermuda in the US Junior Open Squash Championships at Yale in New Haven, Connecticut.

Over 900 juniors competed from 41 countries, with Taylor capturing the Plate Final Title in Boys Under 17 to finish in the top 100 for his Age Group.

Carrick's participation in this top tournament was made possible by the sponsorship of JRG Re who committed to getting a young Bermudian squash player to a North American tournament as the winner of the JRG Re Junior Squash Open at Courthouse earlier this year.

In his Opening match Carrick went down in four games to Andres Villamizar 13-15, 12-10, 11-9, 11-8.

Moving into the Plate Round, Carrick defeated Hernandez Santiago in straight games 11-6, 11-8, 11-5, Carrick would then defeated Edward Morneau in straight games 3-11, 11-2, 11-8.

In the next round Carrick would take on Blake Roshkoff and defeated him in a five setter 11-8, 11-5, 7-11, 9-11, 11-8. Carrick faced off against Jonathan Fan in the Semi-Final defeating him in straight games 11-6, 11-5, 11-8.

Carrick was due to face Tom Hogan in the Plate Final, but Hogan was unable to play thus handing Carrick the title.
