The 2017 PSA World Champs kicked off at the National Squash Center in Manchester with 32 Men’s First Round Qualifying matches, players from 35 nations including Bermuda aiming to grab one of 16 places in the Main Draw.
Micah Franklin was one of those players, Franklin would be drawn against the Caribbean Champion Chris Binnie from Jamaica.
The all-Caribbean clash was the shortest match which saw Frankin retiring injured against Binnie after 13 minutes.
www.islandstats.com contacted Franklin, who said, “Sadly yesterday training before the match today, I lunged into the right corner and had a bad pain in my quad. Turns out I've had a tear in my quad.”
Franklin went on to say, “Tried to play on it today but my opponent could tell things weren't right, I had to shake his hand after two games and concede.”
Franklin concluded, “It is very tough to take.”
