The Bermuda National Junior Squash Team began to compete in the Caribbean Junior Championships going on in Guyana.
Andrew Cox won his opening Boy’s Under 11 Singles match in straight games 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 over Chad De Abreu. Cox then took on Bracy McComb and went down in four games, Cox won the first game 11-6, but Brady would then run off three consecutive games 13-11, 11-6, 14-12.
Playing in the Under 13 Boy’s Division Daniel Ringer went down in straight games 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 to Ethan Jonas, while Graham Moss went down to Michael Alphonso in straight games 11-3, 11-0, 11-8.
Hailey Moss won her opening Under 13 Girls match in straight games defeating Hailey Carpenter 11-5, 11-4, 11-5. Moss would then face Kristen Gomes going down in straight games 11-5, 11-3, 11-6.
Matthew Elliott won his opening Under 15 Boys match in straight games defeating Gianni Carpenter in straight games 11-7, 11-6, 11-9, Elliott would then have to face fellow Bermudian Charlie Riker who had a bye in the first round, Riker would emerge victorious in straight games 11-3, 11-4, 11-4. Riker would then fall to Christopher Anthony, but this game would go five games, Anthony won the first game 11-7, but Riker would level the match at 1 - 1 when he won the second game 11-7, Riker would then take a 2 - 1 lead when he won the third game 11-4, but Anthony would dig deep and win the fourth game 11-6 sending the game to a fifth game decider, which Anthony won 11-3.
Madeleine Rose went down in her Under 19 Girls match in straight games 11-1, 11-1, 11-2 to Taylor Fernandes.
Anaya Smith won his Under 17 Boys opener, but needed four games to get past Chemar Burnham, Burnham won the first game 11-7, but from there Smith took control winning 11-9, 11-8, 11-9. Smith would however fall in his next match taking on Daniel Islam going down in straight games 11-5, 11-8, 11-2.
After receiving a first round bye, Taylor Carrick defeated Kemar Lord in straight games 11-6, 11-8, 11-4.
