Scott & Harriers Under 23s Win Title

Knory Scott and his Harriers Under 23s sealed a superb first season in competitive league action with victory in the Total Motion Midland Football League Under 21’s Play-off final.

Harriers qualified for the final following the completion of their season in the Under 21’s West competition of the Midland Football League, which resulted in a first placed finish.

Harriers flew out of the blocks against Bedworth United and opened the scoring after just ten minutes from the penalty spot – Ethan Freemantle being fouled in the area before stepping up and sending the keeper the wrong way.

Ten minutes later, Harriers had the ball in the net again via an Andy Haynes cross which evaded everyone, and bouncing past the keeper – the linesman, however, had his flag up for offside.

Seconds later, Shane Lowth had a chance to finish following a quick free kick which set the striker free, but the keeper pulled out a fine-diving save to deny him.

The rest of the first half would see both sides struggle to create any further real chances, and this would continue into second half before Bedworth were reduced to ten men on 68 minutes following a tackle on Freemantle.

As the game began to become increasingly heated, Bedworth were reduced to nine following a collision with Darragh Lowth.

Harriers found the net through Shane Lowth after 81 minutes, finishing low from close range after being played through by Scott, but again, the linesman had his flag up.

Bedworth almost grabbed an equalizer on 86 minutes as a lofted free kick was headed up and over Kyle De Garis, and just inches over the bar, but Harriers would hold on to claim the silverware!
