Jade Stewart, Jazae Smith and Symira Lowe-Darrell and their Holland College Women’s Soccer teammates entered the week sitting atop the ACAA standings alongside St. Thomas University, while New Brunswick-Saint John (UNBSJ) were battling for the fourth and final playoff spot in the conference.
Holland College used a 3-2 victory over St. Thomas University, and a 2-0 win over New Brunswick-Saint John to increase their lead at first place by six points with three regular season games to play.
Emily Cormier scored in the 22nd minute to give the Holland College the early lead. Stewart added a second goal in the 39th minute to double their lead, a St. Thomas University goal just before halftime cut the lead to 2-1.
In the second half St. Thomas University would complete the comeback in the 86th minute to knot the game at 2-2. With time ticking down, Holland College would pick up the exciting victory when Rachel Green scored off a free kick to put them up 3-2.
In the match against New Brunswick-Saint John, Holland College used a goal in the 44th minute by Cormier to give them the lead, they followed it up with a Stewart goal in the 87th to secure the shutout win.
