Deshae Darrell & Micah Pond

Deshae Darrell, Micah Pond and their Brookhaven College Women’s Soccer teammates have advanced to the Final of the Region 5 District F Tournament after a 5-1 victory over Murray State College.

Brookhaven fell behind in the 11th minute when some sloppy defending allowed Murray State to capitalise and put them up 1-0.

Brookhaven answered back in the 29th minute when Pond picked up a loose ball in the midfield fired a shot from 40 yards out that went through the legs of the Murray State goalkeeper.

Brookhaven finally showed their dominance in the second half with a hat trick from Savanna Hernandez. Hernandez made a solo run from the halfway line in the 48th minute and weaved her way through traffic before slotting the ball past the keeper. Three minutes later she was on target again when Jazmine Bustos played a through ball for her power past the keeper. The same duo would combine again in the 86th minute when some good passing in the opponents 18 yard box allowed Bustos to pick out Hernandez to complete her hat trick.

Not to be outdone, the team's leading goal scorer Deshae Darrell, was on the score sheet in the 90th minute when she and Olivia Marin combined with some one-two passes from the half way down to the 18 yard box. Darrell received the final ball and unleashed an unstoppable shot that went into the roof of the net.

With that win Brookhaven have now advanced to the Regional Final in back to back seasons.

They take on Richland College whom they recorded a 2-1 win and a 3-1 loss respectively.

Victoria James

Victoria James and her Algonquin Thunder Women’s Soccer teammates proved once again exactly why they remain the top-ranked team in Ontario and second in the country, blasting the Mohawk Mountaineers 6-0 in their OCAA Women's Soccer Championship Quarter-Final contest.

Mallory McQueen and Melissa Gilligan each enjoyed a two-goal effort for the winners, as they established a 2-0 lead by the half and really poured it on in the final 45 minutes of play. Andrianna Dmulchalsky and Darby Perry rounded out the scoring for Algonquin.
