Bermuda Olympian Shelley Pearson has reached the Women's Singles Rowing Quarter Finals with a remarkable performance in Heat 6.
Pearson clocked a time of 8:22.15 finishing third in Heat 6, behind Emma Twigg of New Zealand and Ekaterina Karsten from Bulgaria.
Twigg led from start to finish as she held the lead at the 500m mark, with Pearson in 5th 2.96 seconds behind, however by the 1000m mark Pearson had moved up one spot now she was 9.62 seconds behind Twigg.
Pearson would then put in a surge and at the 1500m mark she was in third place 12.31 seconds behind Twigg and she managed to hold onto the spot and advance.
