Bermuda Takes Part in Special Olympics Opening Ceremony
The Blue Man Group accompany the traditional fireworks ending to an Opening Ceremony, as Bermuda’s Special Olympians and others from across the world heard the words “Let The Games Begin”.
Fireworks explode from the roof of the Olympiastadion, and the smell of smoke drifted around the venue.
The Special Olympics World Games offer the opportunity to unite the world like no other event can. Here people with and without disabilities, people of different nations, cultures, political views and religions meet and can overcome existing prejudices with the power of sport. Berlin paved the way for diversity, for freedom and is now home to people from all over the world.
The Bermuda team was led into the stadium for the opening ceremony with two participants dressed in Gombey outfits, with the Bermuda contingent following.
