Bermuda & The World Remember Pelé

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Football Association like all of FIFA and the World tonight offering sincere condolences to the family and friends of Brazilian football legend Pelé.

Pelé was one of the greatest players of all time. He inspired players and fans of his and future generations and brought joy to everyone who watched him play.

The global football family will remember him as a true icon of the game.

Sam Nusum played alongside Pele during his time at the New York Cosmos.

“The effect that he had on football and being a teammate was some of the best moments of my life, in the game as he was my idol.

“Everybody wanted to see him when we played in the states, in fact, in a game we played at Randall’s Island, we had to get off the bus at the Triborough Bridge to get to the stadium, as there were so many people blocking the entrance, that was the only way we could get there on time because everybody wanted to see him.”

On and off the field Pele was one that always showed his teammates respect and helped them to be better, he was always willing to give advice.

Pele will be a big loss to Football, he was a special person not just to Brazil, but to the world, and I am sure over the next few days we will see the impact this man had on the sport.”

The Bermuda Football Association President Mark Wade said, “Today we have learned of the passing of Edson Arantes do Nascimento or Pele as we all know him. While he played for Brazil, he belonged to us all. His wizardry, or jogo bonito, on the pitch, inspired us all. Not just to play the game but to enjoy it and entertain all who watched 'the beautiful game'. Pele was the first true global superstar of football."

David Bascome said, “When you think of the beautiful game of football, you think of the legendary Pele. No matter if you’re into the sport or not Pele is the player people would always relate to the game to. He was a prolific goal scorer, had great vision, and outstanding passer as a forward. He had a great passion for the game, and his will to win, dedication, and hard work was a tremendous attribute he possess.

As many great players will come through the beautiful game, it will be NO argument that there will be only ONE Pele - only ONE Edson Arantes do Nascimento.

The beautiful game will miss you.”

RIP Pelé
